The magazine also factored in four quality-of-life considerations, including the rate of violent crime, unemployment, average salary for college grads, and cultural opportunities.

The TOP TWO CITIES in the East South Central region of the U.S. are:

On Friday, we delivered four carloads of fabulous toys to the Murfreesboro City Schools for distribution to the tornado kids! You all were incredibly generous and speedy with your response to this call for help. We also delivered toys to Blackman Elementary kids in the County schools on Thursday, and they were so grateful and happy. We had so many companies and REALTORS® that stepped up last week, and all we can say is THANK YOU SO MUCH! We are still working on passes to skating, movies, and more for the middle and high school kids, so we will keep you posted on that progress. Already, Golf USA and Smyrna Skate Center have joyfully said “yes”, so we hope to have this completed this week, as well. We also need to thank the Marine Corp “Toys for Tots” crew, who also donated extra toys from their toy drive last Christmas. Together, you truly touched the lives of these families and kids, straight from your heart to them. MTAR is so grateful for your help and support!

As did many events this past weekend, the Tornado Relief Concert planned for Smyrna High on Saturday was postponed due to rain. It is rescheduled for Saturday, May 16th, same time, and hopefully same place. Organizers are confirming the details today and will post new info next week. The many performers, musicians, tech folks and donors are still planning for a great event for you, to benefit the tornado victims who are still working through the devastation three weeks after. Mark the new date, and watch for the latest info in next week’s newsletter.

This Wednesday is our collection day for our Toys for Tornado Kids drive! We will be delivering the toys to the schools on Friday for the kids to take home for the weekend. Many families are now settling into their new living quarters while rebuilding continues, so they will have a great start to rebuilding their lives and hearts. Please bring your donations to MTAR by end of the day on Wednesday, and we will get them sorted and ready for a new friend and home this week.

For the middle and high school kids, we are working on passes to local bowling, skating and movie venues, so that they, too, can get back to normal teenager activities. We have heard positively from Smyrna Skate Center so far, and hope to have more generous responses from others this week.
MTAR is stepping in to help tornado victims in two ways. MTAR is co-sponsoring a musical benefit on May 2 at the Smyrna High School stadium. All ticket proceeds are going to tornado families, and the stadium holds 3000, so we could do a lot of great things just by attending the concert. All musicians, tech people and vendors are donating their services. Ticket prices are $20 for the musical show, including rock, country and bluegrass performers from the middle Tennessee area. Please bring your family, company and neighbors to this fun and important event. One headliner volunteer that is sure to bring in the crowd is Country Music Star – T. Graham Brown! Eight other bands and several other performers have also committed for this event, so load up the car and bring a crowd to this wonderful event and help these families get back on their feet faster!

MTAR has been in contact with Greenhouse Ministries, regarding housing options for the displaced families. If you have rental property available now, please contact Candy at MTAR with the information. They have also set up a housewares donation center at the old Goody’s Store at Stones River Mall. If you have other gently used items to help replenish these families’ comforts, please drop them off at the Goody’s Story location this week. Towels, sheets, pillows, furniture, glassware, cookware, plates and utensils, hair dryers, and other things that make a house into a home would be greatly appreciated. Clothes are not part of this effort, so carry clothing items to Goodwill instead. Your efforts to care and support these families are genuinely appreciated.

Remember to support our local contractors in this time to build up!
If you have toys to contribute, you can drop them by any of your local real estate offices that are located in the Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors which covers several counties around Murfreesboro.
